1Password

Version: Version 4.3 || Release Date: 2014-04-22 || License: Shareware (49.99) Developer: AgileBits | App Owner: dteare

Too many passwords to remember? 1Password can create strong, unique passwords for you, remember them, and restore them, all directly in your web browser.

1Password is a password manager that goes beyond simple password storage by integrating directly with your web browser to automatically log you into websites, enter credit card information, fill registration forms, and easily generate strong passwords.

Your passwords, identities, and credit cards, are just some of the confidential information that 1Password stores in one secure place, protected by the only password you will need to remember.

1Password has received numerous awards, including 4.5 mice from Macworld magazine, MacLife Editors pick, and was the Pick of Week on MacBreak Weekly by both Leo Laporte and Merlin Mann.

Great app. Customer Support is excellent - I am a bit of a novice so when i couldn't understand the emailed instructions to fix something, i got a call from a tech who spent nearly an hour on the phone with me. Love that.

The latest version on the Mac App Store is indeed 3.9.6 (as of 20120726). The version on the web page is 3.8.20.

The differences are located here:

Hopefully that helps clear up some of the confusion. Perhaps a separate program entry is needed for each "branch".

1Password is the first app I download when I am configuring a new system. I trust 1Password with sensitive and personal data. It works very well.

Finally purchased this app after my websites had been tampered with. I run a small business with a small network, a mix of mac and pc's Purchased the wrong Bundle, contacted agilebits and had the best customer service experiences ever. This software is awesome seriously cannot say enough good things about it the their support, customer for life over here.

Pros

- Ease of Use
- Easy to Backup and Restore
- Extremely Secure

Cons

- Safari Extension isn't quite working as well as it used to be, but perfectly fine on Firefox.
- Browser Extension is missing all the tabs you'd find when opening up the actual Application (An accounts tab would be great in the extension plugin)

Overall

I've tried KeePassX and then I tried this. This was well worth the money I paid for it. They are constantly working to improve this application all the time. There are a few hiccups with it while using Safari, but they are working to resolve the issue. I use Firefox now and haven't had any problems.

@ hereismartin:
The version of 1Password on sale in the App Store is indeed version 3.9.

I have been a 1Password user since 2009, and have never considered another application. Saving passwords is only 25% of what this robust application is capable of achieving.

Create multiple identities for personal and business and let 1Password fill in all of your information on forums, webinar registrations, etc.

A simple sync with Dropbox will maintain your information across multiple computers both at home and at work. You can even access your information via an online interface or via your smart phone using the mobile app.

1Password is so more than the ordinary password retrieval software, and the price cannot be beaten!

Latest version is 3.7.2... this page is out of date.

The most awesome and useful tool in your tool belt.

It enables me to work seamlessly across my iPhone, iPad, Windows and MAC machines. It syncs flawlessly over my Dropbox account, launches and logs into accounts (usually with a few clicks) and has intuitive interfaces.

I'm not big on spending money on "utility" software. I ran a very successful $10M SaaS business and we mostly utilized open source systems, software, etc., so whenever I go looking for a tool, I usually look to open source first. I've been attempting to use open source for this solution, but it was a hack moving across all the varying platforms, and then the functionality was poor.

1Password solves all the issues I had, keeps their solution fresh and evolving with available and emerging technologies, has an incredible and wonderful customer service attitude and are committed to their customers.

This is an awesome and complete solution that covers all your needs, and more!! BUY IT!!

I've been using this on my Mac for close to 3 years now. I've since purchased family licenses for Mac and Windows for my whole family to use. Their family pricing is very fair. THe DropBox support allows me to have a single source for my Mac, Windows and Android passwords.

In addition, their support is very responsive; I've had a question a couple of times and always received a response within 24 hours. They let me upgrade a single Windows license to a family license by paying the difference. I highly recommend this app and company.
