AppZapper

Version: 2.0.1 || Release Date: 2010-01-08 || License: Shareware ($12.95) App Owner: arne

Everybody loves the drag and drop nature of OS X. Drag an app into your applications folder, and it's installed. You'd think it would be that easy to delete an app - just a matter of dragging it to the trash. But it's not. Applications install preferences, caches, and other support files throughout your computer that take up space and generate clutter. Deleting these by hand every time you delete an app is a pain.

This app is invaluable if you, like me, are constantly downloading freeware or shareware apps to try out.
Yes you can just drag apps and their folders to the trash, but you allways get files left behind which soon mount up and make your Mac a mess. There are some free apps that do the same sort of thing, but none come close to AppZapper for ease of use and functionality. Also, its looks great.

Just wish I had got it a long time ago.

Money well spent. I'm new to Macs and was unaware of how things were stored and I wanted to try out programs and not worry about leaving behind a mess of preferences and libraries. This worked great. Now that I know a little something about Macs, I understand where to look to delete things after uninstalling an app. AppZapper just automates the process for me.

Waste of money.

A nice app, I use it almost twice a day (I like testing many new applicationsI).

It doesn't parse pkg files, the receipts which many applications leave, but it does a fairly good job at finding accociated files. It also looks good and works fast.

I'd like if the developer ditched the Zap! Automator action for a proper Contextual menu item, but that's just in order to make it work even faster.

This app is one of the essential apps that should be included in the System, in my opinion.

Downloaded this and tested it out and frankly, it's a very nice app. Showed it to my father, and he ORDERED me to buy the family license so he could put it on his computer too. Great App

This app should have been included in OS X. It's so cheap too! Only $12.95. However, there is a coupon available @ AllAboutMacLive.com, to make it even cheaper! This really will improve your Mac, after removing all the 'hidden' files associated with each app you install. Great Work Austin!

Forget this app and check out CleanApp. Cheaper and much more powerful.

Just supreb. Don't forget it can also remove; prefernce panes, screen savers, plug-ins and Widgets! Could not ask for more. Apple should buy this and make it part of the OS X 10.5.

just added unzap and prompt for admin access when on a non-admin account. this is reason why it's a better solution than a freeware one. i don't like buying software, but this is worth it.
