Avidemux is a free video editor designed for simple cutting, filtering and encoding tasks. It supports many file types, including AVI, DVD compatible MPEG files, MP4 and ASF, using a variety of codecs. Tasks can be automated using projects, job queue and powerful scripting capabilities. It relies on the X11 framework to run on Macs.

The new UI is a nice improvement over the old one. I mostly use this app for joining small avi clips and avidemux does this smoothly.

this has officially not required one to have X11 on OS X for several builds now, so the description should be changed to reflect that.

2.4 is now available as universal, both a QT4 version and a GTK version

when i submitted the new version information, i forgot to mention that the new standalone binaries of avidemux (the one's that don't require x11) seem to be intel only at the moment, the most recent powerpc build can be retrieved from here;
