BackLight

BackLight provides a menu extra that allows you to use screensavers as your desktop background. It can also change your screensaver and open the preferences. Having your screensaver on your desktop is quite a cool effect, but you should probably have a Quartz Extreme-capable machine if you want to handle the load.

5 Opinions:
Freshly Squeezed Software is the biggest POS company I have ever come across and we're talking 15 years of dealing with computer company's. But that's just my experience. The homepage is no longer up btw.
tu13es - Bad show the Leopard release has been postponed, then, eh? If 10.5 came out on time, chances are good the developer would have more incentive to make it "Intel-compatible." So instead folks with Supermacs, Minis and the like will have to wait till Halloween or after.
This is really cool! It's so nice to take advantage of the hardware for a change.
tu13es, I'm running it on my Intel iMac 20", and it works fine. Try going to the website and getting the latest version.
If you want to do this sans-app, running
/System/Library/Frameworks/ScreenSaver.framework/Resources/ScreenSaverEngine.app/Contents/MacOS/ScreenSaverEngine -background
from the Terminal will do this for your default screensaver. (sorry for breaking the layout)
The only downside to this program is the fact that it's not Intel-compatible.
