Balanced

Version: 1.0 || Release Date: 2006-10-02 || License: Freeware Developer: Stéphane Thiell | App Owner: gaffer

Bugs in Mac OS X or other running programs might break your output's balance settings. Balanced listens for CoreAudio's volume change notifications and adjusts the balance if needed.

This first version of balanced has no preferences file and adjusts the balance in a 50-50 manner (no screenshot needed - it simply ensures your audio is always balanced ;).

Alright! I had noticed the problem from time to time, but hadn't found a way to fix it. Good work!

oh my god, this program saved my sanity, THANK YOU!

One thing that typically concerns me about running new daemons is constant resource usage. On my PowerBook, balanced takes about 2.5MB memory, and 0% CPU when the volume is balanced. When it drifts, I see the CPU usage jump to about 0.1%, and then back to zero. So basically, it does just what it should... stays out of your way until it's needed.

Very useful. Especially while wearing headphones, it always bugged me that occasionally, for seemingly no reason at all, the audio would LEAP to one ear.
This fixes it! I haven't noticed a single unbalanced glitch since.
