Version: 4.4.1 || Release Date: 2006-07-10 || License: Freeware App Owner: hmelman

The BitTorrent client enables a user to search for files in the .Torrent (pronounced "dot torrent") format and download them. The current client enables a host of features including multiple parallel downloads. The client also intermediates peering between itself, source file servers ("trackers") and other clients, thereby yielding great distribution efficiencies. The client also enables users to create and share torrent files.

A lot of trackers have removed the Transmission ban from version 0.71

Right and wrong grandpayum, Azureus is far from pretty but I've used it for years with no stability problems as long as I have it configured right. Transmission's a sweet little app but a touch feature light … that is until you look at the competition

µTorrent on the Mac would be interesting. Fast and lean, but ugly and short of plugins. However, because of the way it is coded, I reckon the chances of it going cross-platform are around zero. Instead we need one of the Mac clients to evolve to the right place.

I agree with grandpayum. None of the OS X clients are really all that good (I have half a mind to just VNC into my Windows computer and use uTorrent on it), but the bitTorrent program seems to be the best.

Honestly, I couldn't even use Azerus and all of its features that I so desperately wanted because the thing would crash every time I tried to open a .torrent. Not a very good program, if you ask me.

transmission sucks and is banned from like every tracker and azureus is an incredible resource hog. hopefully someone comes out with a universal binary torrent program similar to utorrent for windows.

There are better applications for BitTorrent. Azureus for the hardcore pirate, Transmission for everyone else.

I reccomend that if anyone is looking for a bittorrent client that they use Transmission instead :).
