An amazingly powerful modeler/renderer for the price. The next update (4.0) is planned to have joint based skeletal animation, inverse kinematics and more! I'm excited... Especially since anyone who purchases the current version gets a free upgrade =)

If you've used Truespace 3D on you will definitely like this. It's a human-sized 3D editor and the price is quite reasonable for that category of application. It has dynamic modifiers much like 3DS max (eg. Extrude, Lathe or arlike are a dynamic effect, it does not modify the mesh itself).

Definitely looking forward to release 4 (promises inverse kinematics and other things). It's the perfect tool for the casual 3D artist, and maybe more if you happen to have some talent!
