Opinions:
Awesome app. It covers the full range from basic backups to very complex rule-based 2-way syncs.
Also, full support for bundle files (or file bundles), such as Pages, Keynote, Numbers files or the dreaded iPhoto '08 library. Although I haven't had the opportunity to try it, the manual says ChronoSync is able to look into bundles and only sync or backup what's changed in it. This means you won't have to refresh the whole backed-up copy of your library after only adding one pic.
Truly has it all, highly recommended. Only minus, as mentioned before me: aesthetically it really needs some work on the UI and icon. Still functional, though.
This is a great program. Very powerful and customizable, but also has a great default setup and so don't really need to take a lot of time setting things up. Also, their tech support is very, very good.
My only problem is that the interface and icons are kind of ugly. Wish they would use Cocoa.
I use this to:
1. sync my USB drive to my work Mac
2. sync the same USB drive to my home Mac
3. sync the Macs to file servers in respective networks
Easy to use - set up and forget!
Awesome program. Installed, worked perfectly. I'm syncing 3 computers, with 3 remote hard drives (backing up various folders in each) and backing up select information regularly to an FTP site....worked without a hitch so far.
If you have a laptop and a desktop, this app is a MUST have! It works flawlessly, quickly and is worth the money ,,, easily.
My only nits:
1) needs a new icon
2) the interface needs to be more Mac like
GREAT APP!!!
Great app.
I chose it for my home backup solution because it was great for setting up rules to exclude files by size, folder, etc.
Its scheduler works well, I have it set to attempt to connect to my laptops everyday. It is unbothered by not making the connection or having the connection broken prematurely.
I rely on it to auto-sync my flash drive so I always have the latest files at home and at work (on my PC). It's reliable and smooth.
This program is fantastic. I've been pimping it at Ars for years now. Also, they give you free upgrades for life.
