ClearDock Universal Binary

Version: 1.4.1 || Release Date: 2006-08-05 || License: Freeware Developer: Unsanity

ClearDock removes the semi-transparent white background from the Dock so the Dock icons are "floating" on top of your desktop picture. Additionally, it can change the colors of application triangles and of the Dock background to customize your desktop!

Love it. I hated that faded background the dock had.

And, as to APE, I've never had any problems.

Yes, APE is evil. It caused all kinds of strange behavior, crashes, etc. Once removed, all was well again. That's why I paid for and use Transparent Dock and will never let APE near my iMac again! Hopefully TD will be available for Intel machines soon. Maybe 10.5 will have this feature built in?

But what I really want is a SIMPLE toggle to lock/unlock the Dock icons. Transparent Dock from Freerange is not Intel-ligent, yet, and way too complicated. Of course, Apple should add this to the Dock’s Prefs: to lock the Dock icons but allow one to movement when option-click-dragging, orsomethinglikethat.

Installing this app caused a LOT of instability in my Intel iMac. Programs started crashing randomly. I could be writing in TextEdit or surfing with Camino and they would just crash. Finally after looking through crash logs, I found reference to Application Enhancer (which ClearDock needs). As soon as I removed it, all was well again.

A must have for me hands down.
