D-Subtitler
D-Subtitler is a little software which can extract subtitles from DVD files and save it in SRT file.
SRT is a standart format which is usable by the majority of the divx players.
D-Subtitler can process two types of source : VOB files and VIDEO_TS folder
With D-Subtitler you can extract subtiles with an easy to use GUI. No need to use the terminal or other complex tools...

Well... It works, as long as you got a .vob to extract from. Discretely ripped tracks doesn't.
æøå does not work - AT ALL. They are converted into ae, oe and aa. Seems like a conscious design choice. Boo. Hiss.
Usually, at least 2-3 times in each block of text, spaces will disappear.
Maybe it's 'Optimisé en Français'?
This sounds handy... anyone have info on its compatibility/bugginess and how well it handles other languages?
