Demeter is a fork of the Shiira 1.X browser that offers more stability and compatibility with newer OS versions. There are also many other features, improvements, and overall usability functions added that make this a contender for the best browser for the Macintosh platform.

There are a few features that do not work yet as they should, but it works much better than the current official version of Shiira.
The bookmarks are not completely implemented. There's no proper bookmark menu yet and it's still unable to import bookmarks from Safari or Firefox.
And the favicons are lost after I quit and relaunch Demeter.
The bookmarks, history and downloads panels are just gorgeous, but they still do not remember their size and position on screen every time the browser is launched.
As most monitors today are widescreen, maybe the pagedock could be moved to one of the sides, instead of stealing useable space at the bottom of the page.
There's still a lot of work to do, but Demeter is on the right tracks. Keep the good work!

Now updated to run off the Shiira 2.2 base - it's a beta - but it's a new start, with new icons.

Sparkle updates it to 1.0.5. Has the DOM inspector with Safari ß3 installed. Cannot login to public .Mac file storage, however I have it running as my default browser.

I have just installed and tried Demeter. As the developer says, there are not many changes yet from the original Shiira 1.2.2. I only found a few cosmetic differences (the blue color in the side drawer and new toolbar icons, for example) and one or two operational changes.
But I'm curious to see how this project will evolve in the future. Specially because Shiira 2.x is, at the moment, a complete disapointment.
