It works fine on a LAN between macs and PCs, no network problems at all. And if you use the OS X installer and latest patch the game works seamlessly, albeit only in software rendering mode (hardware rendering has some serious problems on my machine!). It would be nice if hardware rendering worked, but all you really miss is the perceptive effect and a few graphics tweaks.
After paying for this game, it's given me nothing but problems. Although I bought it initially to play over my LAN, the game will not network between a Mac and a PC (despite the fact that the discs are "hybrid," allowing you to install on both types of machine). That problem has never been remedied. I've since replaced my PC desktop with an Intel iMac, and things were working fine---both on the iMac and during LAN play. However, recently I fell victim to what's apparently a Mac bug with the game: the sound has randomly died, and won't come back. After looking around, I've discovered that it sets system volume to "zero" when the game starts, and it's impossible to reset the level...... Although I've searched far and wide for a solution to this that works on the Intel Macs, nothing seems to fix it. Blizzard's technical support for the Mac platform is slim to nil. I wouldn't recommend purchasing their products for the Mac, unless you're very adept at troubleshooting on your own----even though their apps claim to be hybrid, there are a lot of issues on this end of things.

Ahh, okay, try running in a window (press apple m) to get OpenGl rendering to work properly too.
