Dragster Universal Binary

Version: 1.0.5 || Release Date: 2007-12-18 || License: Shareware ($19.00) Developer: Ambrosia Software

Dragster is an incredibly useful application that takes the drag out of file transfers. Just drag and drop files or folders on Dragster's icon in the Dock, and away they go! Dragster can send files via eMail, upload them to remote servers, copy them to your iDisk, or copy/move files anywhere on your local drives.

One major SUPER drawback with this, is that it doesn't copy the web link, if you post a file to a web server in order to quickly share with a friend or so (something that the free Dockdrop does).

Another thing left to wish for is, a way to connect to various online web apps, such as Flickr, etc. (again, something that the free Dockdrop does).

Currently, the most noticeable advantage this has over Dockdrop, is probably that it supports as many different FTP (etc) accounts as you want. Other than that, I say, go for Dockdrop.

Apart from these notes, I think Dragster is a decent quick file transfer tool. I'd be willing to pay for it, if they implement auto-copying of web urls for uploaded files, and maybe add Flickr support (which is slightly less important, yet highly desirable).

This application rocks. I use it to quickly upload files to my web server via SFTP. The only gripe I have with it is that it doesn't use SSHKeychain or any other SSH agent application.

As for how to put files into a directory on an FTP server, start the application, drag the file on the Dragster icon on the Dock, and choose "Remote Server". Then you enter the server and user name, connect to it, select the directory, and then you can use "Add Shortcut" to make that a quickly launchable option in the main dragster pop-up.

Can someone explain how to use this to send files directly to a given directory on a remote server? It says it works in conjunction with other FTP apps such as Transmit but this is not at all explained in the documentation.
