Screenshots made like this (i.e. skewed or put in perspective) does give (me) a negative impression of the software. Looks like they don't want to show what the app looks like. When researching apps, most people want a clear, wide enough screenshot that brings you a quick grasp of the features at hand.
In fact, screenshots consitute a much more important selling point than text and feature specs (to me). At least, this is true for the moment of first sight impressions, which is crucial for the success of any product.
