Split a folder's contents into subfolders limited by folder size or number of items, or merge the files back into one folder.
This simple, well-coded app will allow you to split any folder's contents into subfolders, which can have a size limit, an item limit, or both. You can copy or move the files, ignore or consider invisible files or aliases, and choose whether you want to have one folder for each beginning letter of the files, or fill every folder to your size or item constraints. You can log the results, and put a copy of the log file in every new folder or in the default, hidden location, which has a convenient button on the toolbar to access. You can also preview before your changes are made, in case you catch an error.
If you want to undo what you've done, use the Folder UnSplitter. You can again choose to move or copy the files, and it can auto-rename , manual rename, replace, or skip duplicates, or it can ask you what do do for each. It has a bunch of options for the auto-rename settings, and you can again preview it.
All in all, it's a great mac app that does one thing and one thing well.
