Folx is a free download manager for Mac and a torrent client for Mac.

Ok, so. I think this is my last comment about this awful software. Unable to get it to stop intercepting my downloads, I trashed Folx. After this, Firefox was suddenly unable to download any files. It occurred to me to check FF's preferences, and sure enough, Folx had hijacked my download settings and set itself as the downloader for many different kinds of files. I had to reset them manually, as Folx did not come with an uninstaller to undo its asinine meddling.

Huge pain in the you know what. AVOID THIS SOFTWARE. This is clearly a company that doesn't know how to treat your computer with some respect.

Also: Automatically captures Firefox downloads after launching. No obvious way to make it stop doing so. Manual also does not help. Infuriating.
