FontForge is a free, full-featured outline font editor that runs under X11. Quite an impressive program, really.
tried to install the intel mac version... but appears not running
Kidding. More like $500, assuming you're talking US dollars.
But you're right: FontForge has lots and lots of features that you wouldn't expect in a free program. It's perfect for someone like me who needs a lot of weird features but doesn't do enough type design to make buying FontLab worthwhile.
This one even can handle Japanese fonts. Wow. Any other font editor that can do that costs at least 1000 bucks, no kidding.
You can go directly to a tag by searching for 'tag:yourtag'. You can also
search within the apps tagged with that word by adding another word. For
example 'tag:browser plugin'.
