Powerful file manager: FTP, WebDAV, S3, Bluetooth, more.

ForkLift is a powerful file manager and ferociously fast FTP client clothed in a clean and versatile UI that offers the combination of absolute simplicity and raw power expected from a well-executed Mac software.

ForkLift will connect to any remote server FTP, SFTP, Amazon S3, WebDAV, the SMB, NIS and AFP shares on your local network, or your Bluetooth mobile phone- pretty much anything you can plug into or hook up to a Mac. ForkLift also carries a complete toolbox for managing your files, including Folder Synchronization, Batch Renaming, Archive handling, Application deleter, editing files over remote connections and many more. All these power features are packaged into a Finder-like, dual-pane interface that delivers superior workflow while remaining absolutely familiar to use, along with QuickLook, Spotlight search and all.

Some people compare FastCommander to ForkLift. They should not.

ForkLift is great REMOTE files manager and FastCommander is designed to be used as a local files manager. This is big difference.

Been a happy user of Transmit for years, really put it through it's paces and it's rarely let me down. The app has become stale in that time however and Forklift has fully taken me now and I only use Transmit for older favourites. Being able to import Transmit favourites would be a plus but I can see why that's not going to happen. Favourites management could be better, I feel like as I add more it will be restrictive but so far the "Finder" like interface is working for me. The app deleter function is nice but I already have appZapper and I'm never going to get sick of that Zap! sound. I just renamed a bunch of files with the batch rename and that was another HUGE tick for me and what inspired me to write this post. In summary, if you're ready to try something other than transmit, give Forklift a try :)

They're running a promo. Forklift is 9.95$ until Christmas Eve!!!

Just a note from the devs: ForkLift fully supports Snow Leopard since release 1.7.5

Here is how to fix it till the official release:

Doesn't work with SL.

Depending on the task at hand I am using ForkLift more and more but it still lacks the punch of my FTP app of choice, Yummy, for critical tasks. Looking forward to seeing how this one develops.

the best finder-replacement imo

To me, as silly as it may sound, an application's icon is everything. That's why I'd like to say, I think the original icon was really much more beautiful. This one looks too dark and somewhat weird.

I've been using ForkLift since it was first in beta. Has been the only file manager that I've actually paid for. That said, the UI was always a bit of a mess (although functional). The new beta, however, is amazing. The UI is as beautiful as it is functional, Leopard frameworks are being harnessed (QuickLook in ForkLift was just what I needed) and it's just showing more and more promise as time goes on. ForkLift is definitely a worthy file manager.
