GCALDaemon
Not yet compatible with Leopard's iCal 3.0.
OS-independent Java program that offers two-way synchronization between Google Calendar and various iCalendar-compatible calendar applications. GCALDaemon is primarily designed as a calendar synchronizer but it can also be used as a Gmail notifier, Address Book importer, Gmail terminal and RSS feed converter.

there seems to be a slight problem with reoccuring events: they are deleted ;)
Someone else filed this bug 2 month ago:
A) the problem seems to be google-related and not GCalDaemon specific
B) never the less nobody but me answered to this thread for 2 month -> abandoned?

Still on tiger and it works like a charm.
It's just a pitty that urls are deleted from iCal after synching (google-cal doesn't seem to support them)
You can now sync 2-Way now using CalDAV!, see here:

There aren't any updates on the GCALDaemon site about Leopard, but there is a forum thread about it.
It says in the title that it's not compatible with Leopard, yet the site has no mention of this. Any comments on it's suitability for Leopard and iCal 3.0? One would think the site itself would have this warning rather than iusethis, but that isn't the case.
very complicated to make it run (especialy for a osx app), but if you follow the instructions on the website it should work.
The only problem with this application is that it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. I don't know why (i autostart is with lingon).
Maybe it's because i use it on a macbook and put it in sleep very often.
Why do they make this so complicated to turn on?
There is a GUI for the config in the newer versions, but you have to go dig it out.
In the terminal, go to:
/usr/local/sbin/GCALDaemon/bin/config-editor.sh
There's a few other little 'utilities' in the /bin too. Although I'm not sure how to make a shortcut to this so you can run it like a normal app.
works great. used it for 4 month now. never had a problem with it. does what it is supposed to. what else can i say?
I use Lingon to start it at boot.
