The cause of Leopard crashing is Application Enhancer, a toolkit that gets (silently) installed with this and other software. The problem is that it modifies the OS in ways that is not supported , which has caused lots of incompatibility problems when Leopard came out and is even a security hole . Even Apple recommends removing it in their support docs if you have trouble.

Personally I would stay far away from this and any other applications that use AE. At least people should uninstall AE before upgrading to Leopard to avoid problems.

completely screwed up my leopard. someone should mark this app as a real danger.

BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH

i just had leo for two weeks and give glowworm a try
i installed the app and started...

expose doesnt work
glowworm crashed and couldn´t closed-just freezed
finder and firefor freezed

then i reboot my iBook G4

and i became a BLUE SCREEN... i wait...then i reboot twice....BLUE SCREEN
after that i used google:

or the similar problem as the mac support describe it with the blue screen and the ApplicationEnhancer

just boot with apple and S
fsck -fy
mount -uw /
mv /system/library/Extensions/glowworm.kext /
reboot

I used this app for some weeks until I noticed, that it freeces my system everytime I lose my internet connection.

So, I made now some really bad experiences about glow worm.

Since the release of the new Mac OS X, Leopard is running really smooth and fast on my MacBook. Every, really every App i was running without any problems under the new Loepard.

So I installed a lot of new versions of the whole Apps I´m using and then I didn´t knew whether install Glow Worm or not.

I decided to try it out. I installed it under Leopard and then Glow Worm freezed at starting. And not enough, a few seconds later it freezed my browser, my Finder and rellay the whole Leopard. I tried to shut Glow Worm down about 20 minutes and nothing worked. So I rebootet my MacBook and everything I got was a sick BlueScreen and Leopard dind´t showed up. (The same thing I got, when I installed Leopard the first time on my MacBook, but this was a general problem -> Apple wrote about that).

So, I had to reinstall my whole Leopard.

Now it´s running again, without any problems, but Glow Worm died for me.

There still is no new version, no update for Leopard or anything else.

And the old version which was running under my old Tiger had an extremely awfull interface. I just used it two times under Tiger and even there it was not a nice, smooth App.

So this "try out" was a big mistake I made.....

According to the changelog for the yet-to-be released beta 5, you will be able to bypass password verification, but only if you've paid.

Agree with kamikazow, it is really annoying to get asked on startup for passwords. I suspect it is because the author is using much more rigorous methods to trap network traffic than little snitch.

The user interface also needs a lot of work. For example, the menu bar interface cannot even call up the rules editor, one has to launch the other app manually, enter password, then open it which is incredibly unfriendly.

However, the core part of the app appears rock solid, the network monitor appears to be much more rigorous than little snitch.

I know now how Vista users have to feel: Constant authorisation requests.
Launching the menu item (after every login): Asks for PW.
Launching main app (because you can't get into the rule editor though the menu item): Asks for PW.

On top of that, the GUI is extremely cluttered. Menu item and main app have two different pref panes. There seems to be an overlap to a certain degree between them, but there are also differences.

Overall GlowWorm feels extremely unfinished and "un-macish". Considering that the author is also selling a pro version, this is almost an effrontery.
For a free app it's bearable, but it's not great either.
