As of August 17, 2007, Google Video Player has been discontinued and is no longer available for download from Google Video website. The option to download videos in GVI format has also been removed, the only download option remaining for iPod/PSP (MP4 format).

Not really. It's just handy if you don't want to take the time and the space on your hard-drive for a full mp4 video.

I just use the "download for ipod/psp" link when I download google videos. That way I can play it in my media player of choice. Does using this get you higher quality or something?

This is pretty alright I guess. When you download something from Google Video, it saves as a ".gvp" file, which when opened gets information from Google Video and creates a ".gvi" file. It would probably be better without the ".gvp" middle man nonsense. Otherwise, it has a nice clean interface which is a definite plus. The thumbnail feature is pretty rockin'. I question the necessity of having a keyboard shortcut for "Sign in to Google".
