gSync
Macness has released commercial version of gSync (gSync v1.0.4), which is a utility that allows you to simply synchronize Mac OSX iCal with Google Calendar. This version fixes some significant issues with duplicate handling and we hope brings a new level of stability with syncing up Google Calendars with Apple iCal Calendars.
Please read Commercial demo license before you download, which can be found at http://www.macness.com .
IMPORTANT: Always backup your Apple iCal Calendars and Google Calendars before installing and using gSync.
To unlock the 30 day demo, you may now purchase gSync (Personal or Group license).
Features
- privacy: no 3rd party server, sync direct to Google and your iCal
- choose: choose which iCal calendars to sync
- schedule sync: choose to autosync
- bi-directional: syncs between multiple iCal and multiple Google calendar with an override option
- reuse SyncServices: our software is based on Apple’s SyncServices allowing us to potentially integrate with anything that uses this (e.g. iSync, etc...)

v1.2.1 adds leopard support and fixes some of the situation with dupes.

I have been using gSync for some time now, and have experienced nothing but frustration. Synching is erratic, with problems occurring sporadically and unpredictably. Problems include: duplicate entries, entries that disappear from the Google calendar following a sync, and unwanted invitations that appear in all recurring events. I have downloaded a demo of SpanningSync, and so far it has worked without fail. I recognize the shortcoming of SpanningSyc (price, use of their server), however, in addition to the absence of bugs, they have the added advantages that they handle recurring events, they sync alarms correctly, and they perform scheduled syncs in the background; gSync offers none of the above. The gSync website continues to mislead by headlining the claim "duplicates and recurrences solved"; this is not the case. Multiple users have been posting complaints on the developer's Google Group, but fixes are yet to appear (the developers lay the blame at Google's doorstep). In sum, this application is certainly not ready for prime time.
The 1.0.1 release decided to remove all entries from one of my calendars. I had a backup, but gSync was sent to the trash. At least I was still using the demo; this made the decision for me - I won't be purchasing a license.
Like Spanning Sync, but significantly more free (at this stage - final price should be around $20). Could do with a bit more polish, but is perfectly functional. Recommended.
