Unfortunately, this game is really choppy no matter how much ram you have or how good your video card is. It's a really bad port of the X-Box game, at least on the Mac side. I've played the Windows version (on the same iMac via Boot Camp) and there's a huge difference in how smoothly the game plays.
And yes, I have a new 2.16 Ghz Core 2 Duo Intel Mac. Hardware isn't the problem.
Forget the game (actually, it great. get it, but here me out), you can get the demo for free and it has awsome multiplayer. Its true you can only use the blood gulch map, but thats the best map anyway.
Awesome. I love this game. Wish my iMac was fast enough to render Advanced Vertex Shaders & 16x FSAA... lol. Sometimes the multiplayer server browser will, on occasion, freeze up.
