iGetter

Version: 2.7.5 || Release Date: 2008-05-20 || License: Shareware ($25) App Owner: marcus

iGetter is a full featured download manager and accelerator. It's a nice replacement for your browser's download manager. iGetter can greatly improve the speed of your downloads using segmented (accelerated) downloading. In addition it allows auto resume on broken downloads, queue filtering by various criteria, site explorer, history list, scheduling downloads for low traffic periods, auto redial on broken connection, auto hang-up and shut down on completion, and much more.

Maybe I should clarify this: I wrote that auto resume on broken downloads almost never worked.
a) this hardly ever happens
b) it is caused by bad server habits
Nevertheless, it would be better if I could rely on iGetter even then; trouble is, I can NOT reproduce this, it may happen or not, based on bad luck.

Yeah, Folx could be great. But has a long way to go (see my post on Folx' page here). In the meantime, use iGetter, it is not «crippled».

And version 2.7.5 is UB (Universal Binary), so no Rosetta unless you so desire. ;-)

In fact, I am rather content with iGetter, and depending on the response to my feature request, I may purchase a license instead of waiting for Folx to overtake iGetter.

Very nice downloader, but rarely updated, and somewhat expensive if you have 3 Macs. Would really benefit from an OS X style "Family license" (i.e. 5 home machines for a heavily reduced cost)

Looks like Folx is the way to go nowadays.

«... auto resume on broken downloads ...» -- that almost never worked.

/// Stopping/pausing, waiting, restarting by hand did it -- so this is iGetter's (and the bad server's!) fault.

/// Now I am using Folx -- very nice, so far. Betcha I will keep that, for free and even paid; since it's «Nice Work If You Can Get It»....! =)))

Hated dealing with Speed Download's file containers and always having to "Show Package Contents" each time I downloaded something. iGetter is working great, no complaints at all.

I tried 2.5....seemed to be Rosetta. =S

Unfortunately, the plugin completely broke my Safari. Nice app, otherwise.
