Image Capture is the technology in Mac OS X that transfers images from your digital camera or scanner to your Mac for use in iPhoto or Automator. Gives a little more control than automatically filing within iPhoto, when using the iPhoto importer.

Opinions:
Image Capture is included in OS X, that's why.
Am I missing something here? The download link goes to the Leopard features page, which is where the "Homepage" link goes.
Where's the download?
Much faster downloading pictures through Image Capture than iPhoto. Very handy: set it to open when a camera is connected, and it goes even faster!
It works best when you know the super-secret keyboard shortcut for activating it: Command-Shift-4. Tried it? Good. Your cursor should have turned into crosshairs. Click-hold and drag a marquee around the selection you want to capture. Better still: Mouse over the window you want to capture and press the space bar. The window turns blue. Click your mouse to take a picture of the whole window. A great way to get quick screen graps!
I use this instead of iPhoto solely for the "Download Some" feature, since my family shares the digital cameras but not OS X accounts. I keep hoping that Apple will eventually add that to iPhoto.
