Irssix is a Free (GPL) irc client for Mac OS X. It is based on the fabulous unix irc client Irssi.

it's osx.iusethis - everything has to have a gui, otherwise they can't handle it.
So don't use it. Problem solved. Just because you like something one way doesn't mean others won't prefer it a different way…
