This little app has become one of my "must haves" Last.fm is an extremely nice service and I listen to the radio (whether it be tags or Similar Artists). The official Mac client is really clunky, and often problematic. iScrobbler is a very nice alternative. And since 2.x can now play radio stations in iTunes it is unnecessary to even have the official client around on my Mac.
Thanks Damaged for your hard work!
If you want to display album art while listening to a radio with iScrobbler, you can open a web page to snappradio and login with your last.fm user name.
Not very practical, but it works. :)
(You'll also get some flickr photos that should be related to the song, but they seem very random to me...)
@cayayofm: go to Growl preferences, find the 'iScrobbler' app in there, and uncheck the ' enabled' box for the track change notification.
How can i sop the notifictions when a song starts playing? I have CoverSutra for that. I can't seem to eliminate this.
Quicksilver can be used to quickly call the 'tag track' dialog, you'll just need to put this in a script:
tell application "iScrobbler" to tag current trackPut the script in here for example: ~/Library/Application Support/Quicksilver/PlugIns/iTunes Module.qsplugin/Contents/Resources/Scripts/
@ thiffany (1½ year later :) )
you can choose to hide your recently listened tracks by going to 'Settings', in the Privacy tab, and check "Hide real-time listening information".
this is a great little piece of software that every last.fm user should have.
i'm now on iScrobbler because it's apparently the only way to track what i play on my iPhone.... but while i love(NEED) that functionality, i for one really really miss having Last.FM radio (which, no matter what i've tried, just doesn't seem to work through iScrobbler). before i had to switch from the "official" client, i used subscriber radio all the time. now i just don't bother subscribing anymore ... which is a shame, and a really good reason Last.FM needs to update their official client to work with the iPhone/iPod Touch. :(
It's telling that the "old" iScobbler OS X client rates so much higher than the official Last.fm incarnation (currently 734 vs. 550 users). Certainly indicative of how dysfunctional of a sideways misstep many users felt the upgrade to be. I can agree with the other posters: I don't need a passive monitoring application taking up valuable Dock/Application Switcher space. And the big head scratcher? Why do I need an application, whose primary purpose is tracking my music player usage, to provide me with another music player? No thanks, I'll stick with iScobbler.
I agree with capehog. I don't want an app that takes up screen space and eats up memory. I don't use the Last.fm radio. My music plays on a blue & white G3, iScrobbler gets my vote.
