With >30,000 tracks, I can't live without iVolume. Many, many thanks to the developer!

The new version is excellent, although it took a few uses for me to get used to the changes from version 2.5.3!

Just a quick note regarding tracks missing the required "iTunNORM" tag. If iVolume tells you the tag is missing, the easiest way to get iTunes to write it is to simply delete the tracks from within iTunes, being sure to tell it to move the files to the trash. Now go to the trash, drag out the deleted files and re-import them into iTunes by double-clicking. Much easier than the solution on the iVolume webpage!

(For the above to work, it might be necessary to have the "Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library" option selected under advanced preferences. I have and haven't tried it without.)

Uses kagi.com for online payment for a license/activation code.
kagi.com has two problems with it's online payment system;
1. If you pay by paypal, then you can't easily retrieve your license info from their system as the online license retreival form requires payment type info and paypal is not an option.
2. FireFox 3 reports kagi.com's secure certificate as invalid.

Therefore, I cannot recommend iVolume on these grounds.

iVolume is one of the BEST utilities around. This and iWOW makes my music sound so much better.

The developer has made it work as seamless as possible.

not the miracle cure i was hoping for, but i guess it's better than Apples SoundCheck. After processing 14,000 songs I ended up undoing all that work and just turning the volume up on the songs that are too low. Now I've got 14,000 notes in my comments field about "volume adjusted by iVolume on x/x/2007". A waste of money for me, but it was cheap enough to give it a try.

I agree, with wfiveash. It does what it promises to do. When I ran it on my whole collection (2600 songs), quite a few didn't have the right version of IDv3 tags. I had to remove fix all the tags, remove the songs from my library, and import them again before iVolume would work it's magic.

Well worth the investment though.

It does a good job of normalizing volume (much better than the iTunes soundcheck) but it can be a pain to use if a song file does not have the IDv3 tags. Still, I use it all the time. I just wish it were better integrated with iTunes.
