JollysFastVNC
JollysFastVNC is a VNC client which aims to become the best VNC client on the Mac. When I started ScreenRecycler I thought that there are enough VNC clients out there to support it. When the program started to get useful I realized that the VNC clients available on the Mac were pretty slow and people were complaining about the speed of ScreenRecycler. I was using VNCThing at the time which proved to be acceptable on PPC Macs but does not run on Intel Macs. Without a proper viewer people can't access ScreenRecycler in a way I imagined. So I started programming JollysFastVNC to enable people using ScreenRecycler. As I got a few mails about the VNC capabilities of JollysFastVNC I decided to enhance the program to be a fully functional VNC client. It's still in the early stages of development, even though somewhat usable and fast..

I was a big advocate of JollyaFastVNC-- right up until the application went proprietary. Really, it's an amazing app, but $40.00? Really?
Removed after it went from free to $40. Switched to remote desktop connection (using rdp instead of vnc).
From free to $40 is a JOKE. Way overpriced...deleted from my machine...good luck dev you'll need it.
Unfortunately, the developers have seen fit to add a feature that keeps requesting "license updates" or asking you to pay some donation money instead.
Thankfully I don't have to put up with this type of spam/nagware anymore because Snow Leopard has a built in Screen Sharing feature that is absolutely brilliant.
I have since removed JollysFastVNC from my mac.
I love this app! Since CotVNC freezes almost everytime, I tried this one and never turned back.
Great work! Love The accordion effect blurring the hidden areas :D
Excellent VNC client. Developer is responsive and new versions with new features appear frequently. It even has built in SSH tunneling.
The only needed feature missing is the ability to open a VNC connection without defining a session.
@captsaltyjack : Option and command work fine for me, though they're reversed. Shift definitely works fine. Check your keyboard input settings.
Great attempt, but:
- Option & Cmd keys don't work.
- Shift key doesn't work! this means i'd have to type in all lowercase
Connecting to a Vine VNC server, btw.
Just switched from "Chicken of the VNC".
CotVNC for some reason won't allow me to right click at all. A reinstall didn't work. I then came across this rival.
It is noticeably faster, and will probably get faster still when 8bit monitor depth mode is enabled in a future release.
I'm using a PPC 1.67Ghz and these are some comparitive results on the host whilst "sweeping" through the dock with the mouse in the remote desktop for each prog (both at 16bit res):
CofVNC - 38% CPU usage, 15Mb Real mem, 236Mb Virtual mem.
JollyfVNC - 7% CPU usage, 19Mb Real mem, 246Mb Virtual mem.
Only 4Mb more ram for over 5x less CPU usage is a good trade off in my book.
I like the app but the icon is hideous. Does anyone have a good replacement icon?
first vnc client which really does what it should. hope, to see more usefull features :)
