MacFusion Universal Binary

Version: 1.2 Beta 3 || Release Date: 2007-07-17 || License: Other Open Source Developer: Michael Gorbach

MacFusion brings all sorts of information to your Mac in the form of files and folders displayed as just another "Volume" on your Mac desktop. Right now it lets you mount SSH/SFTP or FTP accounts as if they were local files. MacFusion integrates closely into MacOS as a menubar icon, letting access saved favorites or quick mount. It can save passwords into the keychain, and automatically mount shares when you log in if you so choose. It can even be set as your default FTP or SFTP program!

MacFusion is based on Google MacFUSE code, and it has a plugin architecture. This means you can expect all kinds of exciting file systems coming in the future, including subversion, flickr, gmail, and more!

NOTE: You need to Google's MacFuse package installed for this to work. Get it here: http://code.google.com/p/macfuse/

Is this still being maintained? MacFuse is currently 1.5.1 and the latest MacFusion is for use with MacFuse core 1.1 . . .

V. 1.2 Beta 3 hangs my system when I try to mount an ftp location. I then have to restart Mac OS by keeping the reset button down.
It did this twice on two different locations, accessed via the 'favorites' menu.
I don't have the time to investigate more, sorry. :)

Just a note to everyone ...
If you have problems with write access using FTP or SSH, please try adding
"-odefer_auth" in the advanced options, without the quotes. This has fixed many issues with FTP and SSH.

If anyone has any improvement suggestions, bug reports or any other issues please add them to the list of issues at the MacFusion Project
http://code.google.com/p/macfusion/

http://code.google.com/p/macfusion/wiki/quick is a good place to start.

Scrap that thought, it was stupid of me - I was making a duplicate mount point :P

For those who can't see the end of that URL below me, just make the page text smaller :)

I always get "Mountpoint Setup Failed" when I try to connect to my FTP server, my SFTP server works fine though.

Just a note for you all: If you were having issues with storing of passwords in keychain under SSH or FTP accounts, I highly recommend you give the new beta a try. It has fixed many issues related to storing passwords. It can be found at the google group for MacFusion, linked off the MacFusion website.

Pretty much K.I.S.S. I love it's simplicity and although I'm still working with Fetch and Transmit, I heart this one very much.

This isn't going to kill Fetch/Transmit/Cyberduck/YummyFTP/Fugu just yet...but with a little more time and a little more work, this could be many people's FTP access program of choice.

And for the record, I have the same problems jeby is having with my own university's FTP account; it'll mount my DriveHQ FTP account just fine, and it'll mount my university's online storage account via SSH, but not via FTP.
