MaxMenus
MaxMenus is an excellent application that lets you create menus at the corners of your screens via hot spots. You can customize these menus fully. Some options include adding your own applications or folders (customize further as "opened" or just "contents are a subfolder"), setting a menu to list all your control panel applets, and much more.
This is what is missing for those of us who switched from Windows-- a quick menu letting us get to all our applications.
Note: Works fine on intel mac but preference panel is not yet universal (v1.4).

I keep my system pretty clean of patches, add-ons, etc, but MaxMenus is solid as a rock and utterly indispensable. I've been using it for 5 years, & can't imagine my Mac without it. Well, actually I can, but MaxMenus lets me get at anything on my drive, instantly - no need to switch back to the Finder to open another file. (Hint: put your home in one of the menus.) Simple, unobtrusive, endlessly customisable - I use it hundreds of times a day.
new Universal version is out:)
I would advise emailing Proteron and asking them about the beta of the Universal version. I did this for Liteswitch, and they sent me the beta the same day, and included the MaxMenus beta as well.
