The MegaManEffect is an application that emulates an effect seen in the classic NES game Mega Man 2. When you launch an OS X application, the screen goes dark, stars sweep the night sky and your application’s icon is presented in a blue letter box bar with a cheesy 8-bit music introduction.

Ahh this brings back old memories of fooling around in Comp Sci. This gets old pretty quick but can be good for a laugh.
I think I have an old PPC build of this somewhere, I can throw it up on my server. The author has a "proper UB build" and new site on his to-do list but who knows when he's going to get around to it.
