Mira
Mira is designed exclusively for the Apple Remote, taking it beyond Front Row with personal control for any application, on any Mac.
The Apple Remote can be used on any Mac using Mira and a supported IR receiver (Twisted Melon's Manta TR1 , Apple Built-in IR Receiver, Keyspan IR Receivers & MCE/eHome 2005 Receivers)

While Mira would win over Sofa Conrol for visuals, I think that Sofa Control's use of Applescript makes it much more functional.
One feature that Sofa Control has that Mira doesn't is an "Open" option for most apps (like Preview and Quicktime) ... it's very handy. For instance, if you have Quicktime open, it automatically takes you to your "Movies" folder and displays it in a Front-Row-esqe menu.
I wrote a little script that will MegaZoom any application that is active, and it's actually very useful.
