Simple, Automatic, Secure Online Backup
Why all the fuss about backup?
Chances are you have a lot of important stuff on your computer like financial documents, email, digital photos, music and more. Unfortunately, computers are vulnerable to hard drive crashes, virus attacks, theft and natural disasters, which can erase everything in an instant.
Current statistics show that one in every ten hard drives fail each year. The cost of recovering a failed hard drive can exceed $7,500, and success is never guaranteed.
Insurance for your data.
Mozy is a simple and safe way to back up all the important stuff on your computer. A copy of your data is stored in a secure, remote location for safekeeping, so that in the event of disaster your data is still retrievable.

This comapany is backed by EMC, so I'd say it's pretty solid (that was one of my reasons to use it), and the price / performance it great, unlimited storage for just $5 / month
I had an acc in MediaMax (former Streamlord) with files like personal pictures/ebooks/documents. When I needed to download, I realized a 20MB file-limit download! Above that I had to pay! Later they went down and everybody lost their files. Who knows what is going to happen with Mozy? What if the company go bankrupt? How to get the files back? Buy an external HD or an iPod classic (you can use for listening music too). Do not depend on third-party company to backup your important files.
poor programme with shocking customer service.
the programme is buggy, fragile and a serious resources hog. if this weren't enough the customer support is awful and textbook case why outsourcing isn't always a good idea. takes around 2 days to answer each email. the first few responses you get will be identikit cut and paste answers, before you get escalated and response time per email drops further and they manage to forget you're on a mac advising me that MS Outlook could slowdown my backups!
it took me one month to get one issue fixed only for an entire new fault to develop within a week. i cancelled my account after waiting four days for a response to my support email complaining i couldn't back up at all. i paid for two years up front and cancelled before the end of the first. Quite simply the worst customer service experience with anything related to my computer I've ever had. using sugarsync instead - great product, great client. never given me a problem
Frustrated? Try CrashPlan! http://osx.iusethis.com/app/crashplan
I completely regret to had paid for this service. Mozzy was the most frustrating service/app that I had. Doesn´t works as they say that works. Too slow, to silly. Terrible, don´t pay for this, lost of time and money.
This app has been extremely frustrating. It is supposed to automatically upload/backup the backup sets selected, but so far...not even close. I started out with the full system backup, went to just my home directory, then to just Docs. Still not working right. 1 file at a time works fine or small folders, but don't try a whole bunch at once.
Nothing but problems, paid for it for five months, and then finally gave up after countless talks with support, etc. The basic problem is that the Mozy software is broken, and they don't seem to have anyone in shop who can fix it. Checking out Elephantdrive - same prices, but will allow me to simply rsync and not worry about silly broken backup software.
I had nothing but trouble with Mozy. It took ages to upload the first time, even on my very fast connection, and then the problems started. Configuration corrupted, reinstall, endless uploading again, tech support forgetting that I'm on a Mac... I cancelled my paid subscription after two months and deleted the app.
Doesn't understand symbolic links: it archives the symbolic link (some bytes) instead of the files it links to (several MB).
Change log shows that symbolic links are supported, though.
(Mozy 1.1.2)
Mozy for Mac is still in beta but I've found it much improved over the past few months. I've definitely got Mozy in "set it and forget it" mode at this point, with little or no tweaking or bugs to report. I get occasional "connection errors", but in the end I have very current backups with no intervention.
One thing to note: If you move a bunch of files around on your drive (say 10GB of photos for example), Mozy will initially report upon its next backup that 10GB will be uploaded. It's actually smart enough to compare the files on your HD with those on the server and only upload those that are actually changed. It'll take an hour or two to do the comparison if there are a lot of files, but it does a great job of uploading only what's necessary.
