NetNewsWire is an RSS and Atom newsreader for Macintosh and iPhone

NetNewsWire is an easy-to-use RSS and Atom newsreader for Mac OS X. Its familiar three-paned interface similar to Apple Mail can fetch and display news from thousands of different websites and weblogs, making it quick and easy to keep up with the latest news.

I'm still a fan of NetNewsWire. Call it nostalgia I guess. Can't wait to see what BlackPixel does with it. In the meantime I wrote a NetNewsWire Style based on Reeder

You guys should try REEDER (beta now). Top-notch RSS reader for iPad, iPhone and now for Mac. Doesn't support adding/removing feeds since It uses Google (crap) Reader account.

very nice, windows user haven't a so good RSS reader

Looks like they also sold my address to spammers. I have a gmail address that I had never used or publicly posted, but which I entered in NNW in order to sync now that it requires google news for syncing. Starting one week later that address has been receiving daily spam message. Until I entered it in NNW it had never received a spam message.

Ads are back. Even for people like me who bought a license back before NNW was freeware.

After I discovered Vienna, the Open Source RSS-Reader, I will never go back to this one! Vienna is much faster and better, try it!

About the adds in NetNewsWire, I'd like to leave here a few words included in the 3.2b11 release notes:
"Ads — not showing at all until there’s a way to remove them. They will come back, but not before then."
I won't make any more comments about that. Everyone is free to take its own conclusions about the meaning of these words.

Yep, ads are gone for me too now. And I also agree that Sharing through gReader is probably my most-used bit of gReader that I can't do from NNW. Would be a killer implement… Also, honoring starred items in gReader as flagged in NNW…

Not sure how the ads are sneaky exactly… I abandoned NNW months ago because I knew ads were coming… Am now giving it another shot as it's the only client to synch with gReader, but the ads are pretty obnoxiously placed… Would prefer them inline, or an alternate paid version w/o ads (see Tweetie for examples of both…)

I also miss some of the niceties of the gReader web interface, such as perpetual scrolling… But at the same time I do generally prefer client software over web nonsense… Anyway, the new beta of NNW is worth checking out, I suppose, but I'm curious if it's too little too late…

Now with Advertisements... prominently displayed in the interface (3.2b). After paying for NNW (and happy with the speed, elegance), they make it 'free' and introduce ads! It's annoying and much less elegant. But it's the sneakiness of the apparent strategy that really grates. NewsGator should not treat customers like this.
