Love this app! Yes, it was expensive, but the demo got me hooked. I didn't try a lot of other task/info managers, though. I just loved how naturally everything came to me when I used it. Within about a day and a half of using the demo, I had too much information stored in my notebook not to buy the program! I use it mainly as a task manager, with a very loose interpretation of the GTD methodology. Works great - and I get everything done on time!

Just a small note, if you go to the website - version 3 was announced at Macworld - it looks like will have some interesting new features, but nothing earth shattering for my particular needs.

I study different IT related subjects. Programming, Security, Operating systems etc. A lot of my books are "electronic" ones, as in .pdf, .chm, websites, etc. When reading PDF's (with preview), surf webpages, reading text files, etc. I can just mark, and "clip" the selection with a right click, and choose the appropriate Notebook in the context menu. This is a GIANT step forward from copy and pasting into different files. I've also configured it to change the source font into the standard font, so everything looks nice in the note. Great application!

Argh. This hurts, but here's my story: I have been using DEVONthink (starting with Personal, upgraded to Professional a couple of months later, currently thinking of upgrading to Pro Office all-included-monster version).

I like OmniOutliner and besides from the standard version (included on my MacBook Pro as well as my Mac Mini Core Duo), I own one license to OmniOutliner Pro.

As much as I hate to admit it, I love Circus Ponies NoteBook! It's powerful, you can customize it for hours, it's versatile, it's producing wonderful material when printed and its clipping services are great… and besides – Circus Ponies app is very, very cute. :)

And all these things bother me a lot! The price tag is rather painful. That is especially true when you already use similar apps, like OmniOutliner and DEVONthink. Besides these apps, I also use NoteMind (by and EagleFiler…

--> I'm curious: If you are a user of NoteBook – what tasks are you using it for? What is it about NoteBook that makes it better than other similar apps?

(I'll wait for your replies, just so I can purchase a license and don't worry about the small sum of money…) ;-)

This is a fantastic application! I have been using it for years and it keeps getting better. As mentioned above, the annotation feature is very useful, so is the ability to create a web page from your notebook. Well worth the price.

Aside from the non-stop list of features, the main reason I use this over others: I use this for capturing all my daily work and over the years this makes for very big files - other programs became unusable as they slowed to a crawl; but not this program. Check out the ScreenCast video on the website. Even as a long time user, I learned about many amazing features.

This is EXACTlY what I was looking for! Simply perfect!

Being a Writer and Researching topics of interest. Notebook really is a supremely powerful data collection application. Has many features that will help writers gather their thoughts and make their ideas a reality. The data search and collection is unlike any application I have use before and that takes getting use too. But it is worth every penny.

Great app. A little expensive. I wish I didn't have to buy a second liscense to let it open on 2 machines on my network at once. Gah.

My favorite feature is voice annotation; I use this to take notes in class, and it's super-helpful to have a recording right on the page with my notes in case I pass out from boredom. Search around online and you can find a discount code for it.
