PEMDAS is a Cocoa-based calculator which lets you work with equations and variables.

Also make sure to check out the PEMDAS Dashboard Widget, which is similar but not as powerful as the app.

PEMDAS is the perfect balance between a simple calculator application and a more advanced math software tool such as Matlab or Scilab.
Additionally, Mike Filippone was very reactive to fix a nasty bug I reported.

Great app from a smart developer!

This is great!

Iusethis all the time :)

Thanks for that. That's what we call BEDMAS (brackets being the first letter).
I had been using Formulas which seems to be the previous name of the program... it's really great.

Oh man, resizing and side bar have no minimum's this rocks now!

Mr Developer, if you ever get time can you please make it remember its previously set window settings :) So when i reopen it doesnt go back to default.

Not a big deal cause i hardly close this

I just saw this, ive been using Calc ( which is similar. However this app does look more beautiful.

I have one request tho, the ability to resize the application more, for most of my calculations i dont need 515 pixels wide textarea, i would love to resize it down to like 200px.

Thanks for making this app, looks great so far!

@ ruahine:
PEMDAS is the acronym of "Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiply, Divide, Add, Subtract", which is the order of operations for evaluating math expressions.

What's this word PEMDAS which is referred to everywhere? Is it some old unix calculator?

Hi zany, thanks for the comments, I'll try to add bin/oct/hex output and input in the next version.

I just love PEMDAS. But I still use BC (the unix terminal classic) for complicated stuff.
Formulas could finally be an awesome replacement for BC. (Mike could perhaps add optional output in different bases?)

I'm not sure if I'd necessarily say it's like Soulver -- I think both apps have different audiences. With Super PEMDAS, I'm shooting more for an ultralight version of Matlab/Maple, especially for doing engineering/science type work.

In all honesty, it's not quite usable for everyday work yet (you can't even save things), so you won't be missing too much if you hold off on upgrading to Leopard until 10.5.2 or 10.5.3, when things in the OS stabilize a bit more. You can always use the PEMDAS widget on Tiger in the meantime (shameless plug, heh).
