Upon further use, there are problems under 10.5/Intel
Just to address the old comment below: I have just installed Peripheral Vision 1.6.3 on my Intel Mac and it works perfectly.
you can use growl now which is free and now it has hardware indication support also.HardwareGrowler. you should check it out
Peripheral Vision is a great utility, I love it. However it's still not a Universal Binary. Since it uses a System Preferences pane to configure (and register!) it, this means it's hard to use on an Intel Mac. It works just fine, but you cannot configure it in any way-- and you'll have to arrange to add it to your login items by hand, since that would normally be done by the preference pane. Plus if your copy's not already registered on a PowerPC Mac, you won't be able to register it on your Intel Mac. It's too bad, because as far as I'm concerned Peripheral Vision is a must-have, so I hope the author isn't just abandoning the project.
