QuickTime Player X Preference Pane

The new version of QuickTime included with Snow Leopard (called QuickTime Player X) is almost a complete overhaul of the previous version, from the look and feel of the application windows right down to the preferences menu (or lack thereof). If you were looking to change some options but don't know where to start, our Preference Pane can help you enable or disable many of QuickTime's features

This isn't QuickTime Player 10, it's a 3rd party app. Don't review QuickTime Player 10 here. Review it at:

To download videos from Youtube just go in Safari menu WINDOW/ACTIVITY; Look for the .FLV file (it's easy to find since it's the biggest). Click twice and you'll start downloading the video.

Though I technically "have" QTX, I certainly Don't UseThis.

QT7 affords for the following: Easy transcoding into anything readable by QT's subsystem, marking in and out points for trimming during playback, codec and component analysis and interaction, dragging and dropping items onto the timeline, variable speed playback, audio and video adjustment sliders, annotations, masking, Quartz filters, and tons of other advanced features. QTX has inherited none of these.

For making quick edits and transcodes, there's nothing better. When QTX was announced, it was understood that Pro was being discontinued. It turned out that the only feature from Pro that made it into X was full screen playback...

Very disappointing, even for a first release. A preferences dialog might be a good place to start! I'm sure X will evolve and gradually implement the old features, but for now, it's laughably sparse.

I love Quicktime X! I am an avid youtube user and the screen recording is a convenience. I've always wanted a free screen recorder! Anyways, Quicktime X is a step above JUST Quicktime 7 users. If i'm not mistaken, can you not get it on Windows? If not, that's just awesome. Another reason to have a Mac.

I was expecting more preferences to choose. All are useless in my opinion.

Quicktime X is crap compared to version 7.
