Great open source software developed at an amazing pace.
Contains a huge cohesive collection of different tools glued together with Python, and (Cython when speed is required).
My tool of choice for all kinds of mathematical experiments, as well as for many spread-sheet like purposes.

IMHO, Sage is the best general purpose mathematical software package out there. I've been using it for years on both a amd64 ubuntu machine and an intel macbook.

As the original author of this program, I really love using it! Sage is my dream program, which is why I invested years writing it.

The Sage website is here: http://sagemath.org. Also, one can try Sage freely online without installing anything at http://sagenb.org
