Scid

Version: 4.2.2 || Release Date: 2010-01-20 || License: GPL

Scid is a full featured chess database supporting UCI engines.

With Scid you can maintain a database of chess games, search games by many criteria, view graphical trends, and produce printable reports on players and openings. There are many more features as well; the screenshots show just some of what Scid can do. With Scid you can also play against various engines, or on Internet (FICS).

The OSX builds are hosted on a separate site. The build linked to here is for 10.5.x, but there is also a 10.4.x build available from http://cachivaches.chauca.net/scid/

The new version 4.2.2 available in January 2010 improved a lot in stability, at least it did in my computer, with Mac OS 10.5.8

Scid has recently resumed development and there are now Universal builds available for it. It's biggest weakness is the Tk UI, but you can't beat the features and performance, especially for the price. With Scid there's very little need to resort to Windows apps. If you try it, do yourself a favor and at least skim through the help documents—they'll help in overcoming the unintuitive UI.
