Share images, ideas and have fun with friends online.

Skitch allows you to take screenshots on your Mac, edit them and share them with others. It makes the sharing process seamless by making it a natural workflow to send the image (with edited arrows and other highlights helpful to your client) to them via email or automatic website uploads. It is especially popular with the designer community, as they show their clients rough drafts of their work in a nearly automated process. It makes it simple to work remotely with someone and pass on work revisions and get feedback quickly. Other uses include:

  • Snap a website
  • Capture a chat moment
  • Screenshot an application
  • iSight snap your bad hair day
  • Quickly sketch an idea
  • Tap into your iPhoto Library
Re-open images from your Skitch History

I've been using Skitch since MacWorld 2007. It's an amazing app and I use it nearly every day. If you are active online it is THE best way to share photos, screen grabs, images you've discovered, etc. If you find something you want to share just drag it to Skitch, mark it up how you'd like, click upload and paste the result where you want it to appear.

I can't believe I used to post without using Skitch. I can get my point across in exactly the way I want to. I feel so much more active and so much more expressive.

nice program. It's a great idea. Especially the built in sharing function. I guess it will be a great help to explain stuff and share ideas.
However I agree to the previous post. The user interface is extremly akward. I don't like it. It feels more like a flash game than a proper application. I would love to see it with a real mac carbon interface.
Also when cropping the image you're automatically resizing the window. Somehow that takes up to much computing power and the frame doesn't move smooth when I crop.

anyway. Excellent concept and nice app.

Basically a screencap tool that allows you to overlay vector graphics on top of it, flattens the whole thing for you and saves files by just drag and dropping. Includes a photobucket-type application completely streamlined.

I had a lot of reservations about this program because of the hype that surrounds it, but I'm pleasantly surprised by the results. Integrates very well with Mailplane, too!

A few minor issues so far - the image browser is clunky and the web app could use some work - flickr this isn't. Tagging from the desktop client would also be welcome, as well as a mass-upload feature.

i use it everyday

Great program, excellent interface and quick to use.

Compatible with Leopard as of Nov 6. Not an official release, works:,com_joomlaboard/Itemid,55/func,view/id,8357/catid,19/

1.0b5 Testfix Release Notes (Build v7617):

  • Skitch now plays nicely with Leopard Spaces and no longer interferes with the Cross-Hairs snapping
  • Fixed an issue where Skitch might crash whilst obtaining proxy information
  • Dock screenshot quality has been improved
  • Snaps are now named correctly when taking a crosshair screenshot in the same screen as the dock on Leopard
  • Fixed an issue where in some circumstances, Skitch was crashing in Leopard while loading the 'History'
  • Skitch 'History' now uses double quotation marks, instead of single-quotes when copying image name, to be XHTML compliant
  • Skitch now gives better error messages when Skitch registration fails on initial launch
  • 'drag me' now remembers the latest file format option chosen after relaunch
  • Small images are no longer flipped at relaunch on Leopard
  • More reliable Flickr authorization
  • SFTP upload speed has been improved
  • Several other performance and reliability tweaks

Since upgrading to Leopard, Skitch crashes every time I try to upload to MySkitch. Anyone else experiencing this? I'd love to find a fix as I've become dependent on this little app.
