SoftRAID 3 takes your existing hard disks and groups them together to give you more speed, capacity and/or instantaneous backup. 1 Opinions:
Hard drives die. Used to be, when I lost a hard drive I lost some or all of my data. I know I'm supposed to back everything up. But I don't. And, as far as I can tell, neither do most people.
Pros: Since running SoftRaid (3 years now) I don't loose my data when a drive goes south. Speeds up disk reads. Bullet-proof quality.
Cons: A RAID mirror uses twice the drive space. (So? Drives are cheap!) RAID doesn't protect me from my own supidity.
Comparision: Better features, reliability and interface than Apple RAID.
Bottom Line: Best $129 investment I've ever made. It's a no brainer.
