The stated price is actually for the video editing suite Final Cut Studio 2 (which includes Soundtrack Pro). But it is also bundled with Logic Pro 8 and a ton of Apple Loops packs as Logic Studio for only $499. The interface is also much better in version 2.0.

Hmm, not sure I agree with your assessment of the interface, wombat. I actually really like the interface. I think it's one of Apple's best-looking pro apps.

Of course, there's more to it that looks, but I have no contention with you there.

Soundtrack Pro? more like 'Soundtrack Amature'. A fantasic and powerful engine from Logic becomes a missed opportunity due to a pathetic and childish interface (are those icons from a childs game or what?). Can't put a fade on a clip on the timeline...get with it guys, check out Protools-i don't want to go into an editor a thousand times to do a thousand fades. Is it a music creation program or a sound editor? That's part of the problem. The interface even looks ugly - get with it if you want to call it 'PRO' or risk diluting your Apple 'Pro" brand. The effects and sound quality of Soundtrack is fantastic and very good value for $. Exporting audio from FCP, then its all there on the Soundtrack timeline is an incredible feature. Potentially a great integrated audio solution marred by a piss poor interface. MUSICIAN & SOUND EDITOR from OZ
