The developers have been bought up by Google. So don't expect any new features in this app. :-/

This is the first time I'm considering switching away from Gmail's online interface.

I still think the online UI is more powerful, but there's something about Sparrow that makes it a very nice experience.

Though as a principle I'd usually rather not have another application open for something that works just fine in the browser.

Support has been moved from getsatisfaction to https://sparrowmail.tenderapp.com/

Using 1.0 now and cpu use improved a lot. Now it goes to 20-25% max while scrolling.
For future features, check getsatisfaction.com/sparrow to see what's been planned/discussed.

Has a nice interface but I don't think it's lightweight at all. When you scroll the email list the cpu spikes to 80%-120%. It's beta so let's wait.

It now supports labels, is extremely lightweight and can sit in the menu bar, freeing up space in the dock.

The main thing it's lacking right now is a unified inbox for people with two or more accounts, but I've just switched to it as my main Mail client, after seven years of faithfully using Apple Mail.

Definitely like what I see so far, and when Gmail labels arrives, it will be king.

@philippgerard : generic IMAP, not just gmail ;)

@ikarus : I use it with IMAP since the first beta...

Awesome app! Can't wait for IMAP support so I can check all my mail with it.
