If you have a broadband internet service with a monthly download limit, you may find SurplusMeter comes in handy. It measures the download and upload traffic on your Internet connection and keeps a record of your traffic volume. It gives you all kinds of useful output statistics, like daily allowance, average daily usage, accumulated surplus, and more.

Very good program, works perfectly well in Leopard and gives accurate info.
Thanks!
Works very well. It's easy to set it up to work with different providers. There are options to include uploads, etc, and the daily allowance gives a good way to "pace yourself" and avoid using all your bandwidth in a week.
It is limited in that in measure all traffic through the chosen connection (Airport, Ethernet, PPP, etc.). If you use Airport for Internet and local sharing, Surplus meter can't tell the difference. You can, however, manually add or subtract from your total.
Brilliant piece of kit. I love this thing. Accurate, keeps me informed on how much of my monthly limit has been used, runs hidden and is fast, fast, fast. I've seen download meters on Windows and Mac, and the only one that comes close on any OS is Tautology for Windows. Even then, I love Surplus for its streamlined Aqua features, whereas Tautology looks like an escapee from an NT convention.
