The Unarchiver

Version: 3.9.1 || Release Date: 2014-10-04 || License: GPL Developer: Dag Ågren | App Owner: sarnesjo

Multi-format unarchiver app for OS X.

The Unarchiver is a much more capable replacement for "", the built-in archive unpacker program in Mac OS X. The Unarchiver is designed to handle many more formats than BOMArchiveHelper, and to better fit in with the design of the Finder. It can also handle filenames in foreign character sets, created with non-English versions of other operating systems.

Yeah, this makes stuff it look like the biggest load of crap, which it is. Seriously though, stuff it can't even tocuh this. The only thing it has is freakin .sitx, which barely even works for me anyways!

...doesn't handle the following files: .sitx, .arc, .arj, .mime, .as, .cpt, .ync

...luckily though, these are handled by the free standalone Stuffit Expander app (I wouldn't use the Stuffit Deluxe bloatware).

So in combo with Expander, the UnArchiver handles any file you can throw at it...... excellent and a well deserved 5*

[of course, it won't Create archives, but you do that via the contextual menu item "create Archive of..."]

This stuff kicks so much ass it's not even funny. Completely unobtrusive, almost invisible UI, behaves just exactly the way you expect, GREAT file format support... Seriously, what more could you want? This gem ought to be on every mac.

This stuff rocks.

Holy cow! Finally something that decompresses .sit files! HAZZAH! Stuffit is one of the worst apps I have ever encounted for the Mac. This works great! Kudos to the developers.
