I used to use this a lot on my G4 Macs, but once I got my quad core Mac BookPro, I can convert videos in the background faster than Turbo.265 with Handbrake and the machine doesn't run very hot either.
I can still recommend this for slower machines. Quality is not as good as with Handbrake, though.
If you have any Intel Mac, Turbo.264 really isn't so much faster than Handbrake to justify its poorer encoding and file sizes. One advantage it does have over Handbrake is the ability to create one file that can be used on both the AppleTV and iPhone without distortion on either. Perhaps that is because Handbrake is so meticulous in in its encoding, but it is a nice advantage that Turbo.264 has over Handbrake
