TweetDeck
TweetDeck enables users to split their main feed (All Tweets) into topic or group specific columns allowing a broader overview of tweets.
- Catch up with overnight global twitterings as TweetDeck stores all updates whilst running
- Continual status updates of TweetDeck and Twitter
- Resize TweetDeck as either an unobtrusive column, full screen or anything in between
- Especially useful running full screen on a separate monitor
- Filter tweets from up to 1 hour to the last 7 days using the Timeframe bar
- Auto updates from the Twitter API

TweetDeck isn't Flash, it's Air! I don't know what's up with all these people complaining about it being too resource-consuming; I have a 2.26 GHz processor, and it takes hardly any processing power!
Loses my account info on almost every startup - switched to Tweetie
Feature rich but like most Flash-based applications it reliably brings my 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo MacBook to its knees!
hey anamanaman, CMD-W solution is quite simple:

The latest build of TD includes support for a Facebook status feed. It seems to work pretty well. I'll take anything I can get to avoid going to Facebook's site.
Because TD can't run in the background, or at least go all transparent like twhirl, I still probably won't use it.
too resources consuming. I prefer Pwitter just for that reason
Very cool app. Be nice if it ran in the background. I'd like to be able to cmd+w (close window) and not have it close so it'll pop up new alerts and such.
