USB Overdrive Universal Binary

Version: 10.4.8 || Release Date: 2007-10-25 || License: Shareware ($20.00)

The USB Overdrive X is a device driver for Mac OS X (Jaguar, Panther and Tiger) that handles any USB mouse, trackball, joystick and gamepad from any manufacturer and lets you configure them either globally or on a per-application basis.

It reads all kinds of wheels, buttons, switches and controls and supports scrolling, keyboard emulation, launching and all the usual stuff like clicking, control-clicking and so forth. The USB Overdrive can easily handle several USB devices at once.

Basically works like a charm.

But I'm experiencing problems while using it in conjunction with "Locker" (the neat little widget to lock your Mac with a simple double-click). Whenever I unlock my MacBook, the mouse pointer goes crazy and is twice as fast as intended.

Any tips or solutions for this?

USB Overdrive can accelerate the Mighty Mouse, just like SteerMouse.

Keyboard emulation!

Under Windows, there's an app called "JoyToKey" to emulate a gamepad for legacy games who don't support it by default. I guess this does the same thing for your Mac. This is precious; without it, I'd have much less fun playing games that require quick reflexes on a stupid keyboard.

I'm a keyboard person but I have a Logitech MX310 and didn't want to waste the extra buttons. I decided to map various Expose and Dashboard functions using USB Overdrive, which makes more sense to me than hitting F9 - F12 since Expose and Dashboard are basically mouse-centric functions.

Tip: You can have something happen when you scroll your mousewheel while it is clicked, so even with a basic scroll mouse you have two actions available (clicked wheel up and clicked wheel down). No need for monster 10-button mice.
